People are clamoring for more on the La Costa Town Square:
Arterro is the name of the Davidson tract. From their website:
Located off Rancho Santa Fe Road just east of La Costa Avenue, Arterro is a 22-acre residential element of La Costa Town Square, a planned 285,000-square-foot shopping center being developed by the Safeway division on 83 acres.
“A big plus for our homeowners is the ability to walk to several markets and other specialty services,” said Davidson, who noted that the anchor tenant is a 60,000 square foot Von’s store. La Costa Town Square is scheduled to open in mid-2014.
Arterro is on track for a Early 2014 opening.
In 2001, Davidson Communities won the Grand Award for Community of the Year for their tract called Bougainvillea at Del Mar Mesa.

Another installment of my conversation with Bill D:
With the large tracts of land mostly built out, and the smaller in-fill projects being the only feasible options closer to town, this looks like the future of San Diego homebuilding – catering to wealthy (and typically older) folks with features like smaller yards and first-floor master suites:
The Plan Three in Arista, a neighborhood of 43 homes being built in the gated golf course community of The Crosby. All three models have the option of having the master suite on the ground floor, as well as additional flexibility – the Plan Three can be 5 br/5 ba plus bonus room:
Santaluz and The Crosby cater to the uber-rich, yet these Davidson-built homes at Arista appear to be somewhat affordable, compared to their Crosby brethren:
They had the big broker party scheduled for today that was going to include an appearance by Mr. Davidson himself. But they postponed due to rain – I’m hoping to get his thoughts on the market!
