According to the U.S. News & World Report, there are 35 towns in America that are better than San Diego!  And 33 of them are cheaper!

Austin, Texas is #1, with Denver, Colorado Springs, Des Moines, Portland, Seattle, and Raleigh/Durham all in the Top Ten.

    The list is suspect, I have been to Austin several times, IMO SD is far better.

    Santa Barbara makes it but not anything in Ventura County. No. Not on a list that includes Worcester MA, Springfield MA and very high Buffalo NY. I see no value in this list.

    Jim, I think if it weren’t for those housing/income disparities Santa Barbara would be #1 with a bullet.

    Don’t get me wrong. SD is awesome but this ranking just misses too many QoL issues.
