Not sure if you lease (hope you do with pre-tax dollars) but if I were you, I would seriously consider a Lexus GS350. Not quite the prestige of Merc E-class but much better on running costs. Plus a Lambo is so-1980s.
Any intel on Del Mar Heights or UTC?

Ha Ha!……..love the end of the video and the cord showing on your tires Jim. I love the comment of the tire guy…… “the biggest thing is rotating the tires”.
Based on the fact that the fronts seem new by comparison, I’d say that perhaps the BIGGEST thing? is to stop rompin on the GO pedal so much Jim!
How long you think the rears are gonna last for ya on a Lamborghini?…….Oops, I mean that Korean econo-box Lambo.

Jim–Here is a Korean luxury car to consider //www.caranddriver.com/news/car/09q1/2010_hyundai_equus-auto_shows These things are gorgeous, especially inside–have been on the road in Korea for a couple of years.
I saw my first Equus at the OC auto show, and got to sit in it at the LA auto show. These seem quite nice. Definitely on par with the 7 series and S-class, and better than the LS (IMO).
In my estimation, Germans and Japanese are falling behind to the US and Korean makes.
P.S. I’d never buy a Lambo, I just happened to be reading in a magazine about a new model they have coming out. I want to go back to my favorite car of all-time, the 1979 black Seville that I sold for $2,500.
Of course I read about the Lambo in the magazine, without buying it. I do the video, and come home to google it to make sure it was right, and can’t find 480 anywhere. Maybe it was the price? It’s sounded like a new model.
You guy know me driving the Benz, but I had five Caddys in a row before the MB, including 2 DTSs. I like the Lexus too, but after Chuck’s comment I’ll have to look into it.
Any suggestions?

A Mitsubishi lancer ex is faster than most Lambos and only costs about 36k. So just get that and a nice Hyundai and you’ll be a happy camper.

LP 670-4 SuperVeloce? It’s priced right around $450k. You can definitely find a cheaper Lambo though.

cool…you drove by our house..
So about the house on Rock Ridge where you thought the guys moved out? There is a house kind of across the street, those people just had a yard sale and moved out. House is headed to foreclosure. Address is 3504 I think.
“Nobody likes me” I am sure the guy you sold the house to for $740k with the next door house listed for $620k loves you. You should have stopped in and said hello.

Ouch desmo!…..that one’s gonna leave a mark.
Jim, I would think that the german engineering and *tightness* that they have would keep you from ever considering the caddy again?
My wife wore me down last year and I bought her a used Caddillac XLR. Supposedly their flagship model. Holy crap man, what a piece of !$#Y@! That car has been in for repairs no less than 8 times for a variety of problems in the year and a half she’s had it.
Based on your obvious need for speed, might I recommend going outside the box…..Get yourself any modern day sportbike. For about 8 grand you’ll have something with the performance that makes ALL cars look stupid – even a Lambo!
I’ve got a 500 hp SRT-10 Ram truck yet it will get left-for-dead by either one of my bikes stock bikes.
I represented the sellers, and yes they still love me. But their house was $100,000 better, with an additional 600sf and every upgrade plus pool, so I’d call it fairly steady.

A little OT here Jim. But this morning there was semi truck action on Highland in SB near the golf course near San Andres. You featured this house on a video – I think. The house recently closed – not sure if it was the seller moving out or the new owner moving in.

I’ve got some suggestions for you, depending on how much of a risk taker you are…but they’d sure be memorable and unique!
I hear from friends in Silicon Valley that they’ll soon produce a plug-in electric Smart car with battery technology from Tesla.
Sounds like a good option to me.
BTW, my personal favorite car was my 1995 Suburban. It did everything from towing a boat, to holding most of my hockey team, to driving in the snow. The low fuel mileage was the downside though.

I used to own a 1989 4×4 3/4 ton GMC Suburban, and I would have kept it if the body hadn’t been beat to hell. That’s still my favorite era for the Suburban, it looked like a giant box and was made mostly from steel. A semi-truck rear-ended it on the freeway, and it just put a smallish dent in the corner. Once a Civic t-boned me and didn’t even leave a scratch. I’ll agree on the gas mileage and it’s the main reason I ended up selling it. I did the calculations and my payments for a Civic + insurance + gas were less than what I was paying for gas in the Suburban for my commute.
I’m currently driving a MINI Cooper S, just over two years old. After driving a Honda Civic EX for ten years, it’s a world of difference. More cargo space, more power, astounding handling. Most of the car’s wonderfulness is subtle and doesn’t become apparent until after you’ve driven it for a few days.
But I wouldn’t use it to haul clients around all over the countryside. (Although, one must ask: Ever shown a client around in your Chevy?)

Stick with a Benz. An Audi A8 would also be acceptable.
Yeah, I had a similar experience. Driving in the rain one morning on the 280 in San Jose, a woman entered the freeway from right side lane and hit my right front bumper.
Well, I watched in my rearview mirror as her sedan spun around in a circle 4 times.
We got out to inspect the damage and the ONLY damage to my Suburban had was this little scratch in the black plastic trim above the chrome of the right side bumper. After that I felt really safe in that thing. (Fortunately no future accidents.)

If you’re looking for car buying advice, I’d love to help. I need to more about what you’re looking for before I could personalize my suggestions, but as it stands I highly recommend test driving the new Hundai Genesis.
