For those who wonder how an auction might look, here was my first attempt:

Love it! Action not just talk. Everyone got a chance and nobody was excluded/screwed over.

    Couple of suggestions…

    2. Put together a “care package” that describes the house, why you did an auction, and you’re general bio. I bet you can convert a couple of auction losers into future customers.

The auction format is the only way to ensure ethical behavior – agents aren’t going to be ethical if left to their own devices. It is too lucrative not to!

Why don’t you hear more people talking about it? It’s too lucrative to look the other way, and get your piece of it occasionally!

Rob is talking about it though:

To me, it’s pretty simple and straightforward.

The single biggest problem in the industry today is that there are too many crappy agents. This isn’t me saying this, but NAR through the DANGER Report which recognizes the problem.

At the same time, the single biggest pain-in-the-ass for the working REALTOR is… the agent on the other side of the transaction. Widespread incompetence, unethical behavior, and even outright corruption mean that the honest professional REALTOR has to deal with crazy shit on the other side all the time.

The crazy thing for the true REALTOR is this: every single one of those incompetent, unethical, marginal agents on the other side is a card-carrying, dues-paying, Code of Ethics-having, REALTOR.

Wifey asked me what I thought the percentage of home sales had some shady dealings.

I said 20% to 30%, and more agents than that would do some shenanigans if put in the position.
