I was following this one cheaper, larger, closer to the ocean. Was pending but guess what, it fell out of escrow. http://www.redfin.com/CA/Del-Mar/2142-Del-Mar-Heights-Rd-92014/home/6395540
Looks like whoever owned it previously will lose money. Sold in 2006 for $1,875,000 and I am guessing it was remodeled after that (due to upgrades looking fairly recent).
Good example that you can use granite in a modern house and it looks good (note the straight edge and use of black or grey tones helps it look more modern).
Cool house Jim! Not my favorite location, but it is funky. I also didn’t hear you complain about the stairs!
On a side note, my friend & I toured the REO on Los Morros with the goal posts when it was being built. They were confident that it was going to sell for $15,000,000 instantly.
We saw how that turned out! haha
what kind of neiighborhood is NC?
Bomb technicians are currently clearing a house in Escondido, California containing the largest cache of certain homemade explosives ever found in the U.S. Among other weapons, the stash includes 9 pounds of suicide bomber-favorite HMTD.

Funky indeed. And definitely interesting. Even more important, it’s liveable.
As for the clear toilet door, maybe it’s an LCD window. Press a button, and it goes opaque.
Love all the funky, custom touches!
All those stairs and hard flooring materials would kill my knees, but this one has a ton of style, to be sure.
Also, I ran across this article this morning in apropos of conversations we were having the other day about long term job prospects.

Clear bathroom door…what were they thinking?
Actually a pretty nice home in a good location so it should sell well.
One other negative was the bad feng shui. The stairs are right in front of the front door.
With half the country out shopping today…it must be a slow week for home sales.
I like the barrel ceilings and the stainless steel countertops… not so sure about the upside down plan and the rest of the house…

This listing was marked pending yesterday, after 9 days on market. Must have been close to the $1.7?
