There was mention of Richard capturing the Opening Day festivities on video, but when he got home he somehow deleted the entire set. I felt obligated to bring some of the atmosphere to our blog readers, so yesterday we took a half-day off:

“Richard… you’re fired!”
6 out of 6 in the pick six would have got you $3024.20 yesterday at Del Mar.
“Wifey: People are gonna think you’re creepy!”
*Chuckle* We already think you’re creepy, Jim, after yesterday’s (bug) video…
Did you do anything to the affected memory card yet? If not, search for and download a free recovery tool called Recuva. It might still be possible to recover the deleted files.
As for the low payouts on such a complicated selection, that’s normal. The payout for each individual is influenced by the total amount wagered for that type of bet, minus the track’s cut.
Pick 6 – its also day 2 of the meet. When the pick 6 begins to rollover for several days, including the bigger betting 1st weekend, the pot will be sizable. It’ll get up over $100k pretty soon if no one wins soon.

There was already a $164,000 carryover from opening day! I finally found something that I know more about than you do! I enjoy your comments:)
Norm – I NEVER win at the races…never…but the beer & margaritas are always cold and never disappoint.
I could sell my picks as guaranteed losers and save people lots of money. Pick any horse but mine and you’ve got a chance at winning.
This is the first time I’ve seen an ambulance follow the race ON the track.
Have you considered writing about your real estate
experience? I’m convinced from your videos and commentaries that your book would be a hit.

Hey,
Another long-time reader from Lexington, Ky here. I used to love going to the track ar Del Mar. Now it’s Keeneland!

Bill,
I’ve never considered writing a book or anything, because it’s all right here.
But I’d do a movie in a heartbeat.
The guys from HGTV called last year when all the publicity was happening around the LA Times article and Nightline.
They were all set to send a scriptwriter over and get started, but I told them it sounded like entertainment. I wanted to do real estate education, a topic that is totally untouched and could play from coast to coast.
They didn’t call back.
I’ll add that we’re close to going viral now.
This week, for example:
On the front page of the WSJ
A video got mentioned on ABC Radio
Bloomberg called today
I’m going to be on KPBS on Monday morning for 40 minutes.
JtR, the multi-media anti-Realtor!
Jim,
You’re brand of RE education *is* entertainment!
Jim,
Thought this would have been a great opportunity to do the randon survey. Ask 100 people at the track (general admission area):
1. Are you currently in the middle of a loan modification?
2. Are you currently on unemployment enjoying 99 weeks of checks.
The track must have been a bizarre scene with the unemployment level so high and the recession impacting so many people.
Could not imagine pissing $ away in this environment.
I think you’d do great on HGTV. If they call again, go with the entertainment angle, and you can slip in your education moments into there. Dropping flash-bangs onto roaches would be awesome on HGTV!

That’s awesome, Jim!
I’m with Jeeman…if HGTV calls again, just go for the entertainment and make $$$$. 🙂
