Many years ago, we purchased a home in Carlsbad, using a realtor that was recommended to us - Jim Klinge. Fast forward to 2025, we recently had the privilege of selling 2 homes in Carlsbad, CA and didn't hesitate to reach out to Jim and Donna Klinge of Klinge Realty Group to guide us through the sales. The transactions were very different, each with its own unique situation, opportunities and challenges. From start to finish, Donna and Jim helped navigate the pre-sale preparation, the listing, showing of the house, buyer negotiations, the final close and all of the paperwork and decisions in between. Wow, that place is cringe-worthy. I’m sure that there is someone out there who will fall in love with the property. They will have no cash and bad credit, but they will be in love with the house and grounds. What’s not to love about an 11 car garage?
Of the 5050 square feet, how many are actually usable? It didn’t seem anywhere near big enough for the square footage listed.
Is it supposed to be modeled after some particular English country estate? Nobody would dream up that sunken entry separating the living areas without having seen something similar and thinking it was classy.
What zip code or neighborhood is this home in?

Very true. I think this house only makes sense if you entertain massively, and then, why is the kitchen so dinky?
I have a bit of a soft spot for the library area. Imagine a big cocktail party, the buzz of conversation coming up through those holes in the floor, and people escaping the crowd downstairs for a quiet tete a tete in the library. But on a day to day basis, with that big central hole in the floor, where would you stick the long tables with green-shaded lamps that belongs in this space?
This house doesn’t make sense without about a 100 people milling about.
Built in 2003? What a weird design. I respect the 11 car garage though. My guess is the garage would sell the house before the house sells the house.

Jim, What do you think is appropriate buyer price discount since it’s manufactured? Most buyers in this area expect traditional built, but a cash buyer might get a good deal. Financing manufactured will be tough, especially since not many “manufactured” comps.

The former owners were trying to rent out some portion of it before being foreclosed. I saw one of their ads on Craigslist where they gave quite a flowery description of its stately grandness, the special opportunity to live on its grounds, etc. I kept expecting the writer to call himself “Lord _____.”
What a complete mess! It’s like a very bad game of SimCity scaled down to a single house!

Two fireplaces and four big steps out of that front area? Why? The top part can’t be a play area unless you trust your kids (or other kids) to never shove their stupid selves through or over the railing :).
