Homes.com is making a run at Zillow and all other search portals. They are advertising 100 million users already, and they are displaying the listing agent’s phone number prominently on their properties for sale:
Zillow must have felt the pressure, and they are doing it too, although in a more subtle way because they still want you to contact their call center so they can control – and get paid from – the agent they desire:
This is will probably have more to do with the extinction of the buyer-agent than the lawsuits.
All anybody has to do is spend $100 million per year on advertisng to become a major player like like Zillow did, and homes.com is in a position to do it. Look for the homes.com ads during the Super Bowl!
Just for sheets and giggles I sometimes look at the estimates from Redfin/Zillow/Homes. All over the place. As of today Redfin has our pad 650k above Zillow and 1.1m above Homes. Until there are better algorithms in place, that part of those services is completely useless. Appraisers and their subjectivity and even laziness from drive by appraisals are better at this point.
Redfin is on the ropes and I think they are deliberately puffing their home estimates to get homeowners to list their home with them.
The placement of a Super Bowl ad is not a ringing endorsement.
Reading Mitch’s comment I did the same. The Dawghaus shows a 30% spread.
The placement of a Super Bowl ad is not a ringing endorsement.
Agree and it could just be the beginning of a $100 million barrage of advertising by them this year. Or they can go get in line with Trulia.
The bank versions are even worse. BoA has us almost 2m less than Chase. Heck, with BoA we have lost 500k in value since purchase 4 years ago. Uh huh. Very accurate. Much accurate. The mostest accurate.

I checked out homes.com today for the 1st time. Searches and visuals are way better than Zillow, more info-tainment as well. But how many websites do we need to view real estate?
