Canada Introduces Home Buyers’ Bill of Rights

Instead of pushing a Code of Ethics that is 109 years old and is unenforceable, the National Association of Realtors should do the same thing and require a similar bill of rights.

Besides, once you ban blind bidding, then open auctions would evolve naturally!

    Hi Jim-

You mentioned in this post “Code of Ethics that is 109 years old and is unenforceable”. What do you mean by unenforceable please?

Unenforceable = the powers-that-be refuse to enforce them in a way that has impact.

Everyone around here knows that if you do something unethical, the worst thing that happens to you is you get a letter in your file for 6 months. If you are convicted of other abuses during the same six months, then they might do something worse.

Jenae cheated a dozen of her own clients out of a couple of million dollars and didn’t lose her license, let alone go to jail. The only time I took an agent to a hearing, I had to gather all of the evidence, present it like a prosecutor, and then let her tee off on me like I was the bad guy. She was indignant about her lowering her commission to screw me out of a deal – she couldn’t understand why that was wrong. She was found guilty by a panel of three old realtors who volunteer to play judge because they are too old to sell any more.
