I liked how the pilot essentially said, “While is SOUNDS fun to go by the tower at Mach 2, math advises me that it would blow out the windows of the tower, embedding shard glass in everyone’s faces, as well as assorted projectiles blasting off everyone’s desks, so “fun” loses to “common sense” supported by “math.”
Had a friend who worked support on an aircraft carrier. He said the pilots were a lot less like “Maverick,” and a lot more like “Mr. Rogers.” The “Maverick’s” tend to get tested out before they get to be a standard pilot.
Handing over a plane that cost that much, character and temperament is a very big deal.
