It’s hard to fathom how magnificent castles were built centuries ago. One group set out to understand just that by building their own masterpiece two hours outside of Paris. Tucked away in a forest, a team of master builders and archeologists are attempting to construct Guédelon, a castle from the 13th century, using only medieval techniques.

All respect to the people restoring this castle. But employing 50-80 people and a restoration timeline of 25 years is crazy. Nobody can afford that.

The French countryside and areas going up the the French Alps are stunningly beautiful.
I think this project was featured in the Nova episode “Building Great Cathedrals.” Actually 25 years would be an historically accurate timeline. Some large cathedrals took over a hundred years to finish.
