For those tempted by the liquid enchantress, take heed – thanks daytrip:

TV footage of the collapse showed a pool in the backyard of a home slightly hanging over the edge of the cliff in north Pacific Beach near La Jolla. Fire officials initially said the collapse occurred in La Jolla.
Living near the ocean is always a battle of the elements, the ocean is going to take the land eventually.
“A geologist inspected the cliff and determined the home’s backyard was not safe.”
He should get a second opinion. I’d hate to give up the use of my pool if I didn’t have to. It still looks full.
I wonder what his fee was to determine it was not safe?
Looking at the video it appears that the neighbors are not far from the same problem. You can shore the bluffs up but nature is not fooled the cliffs will collapse over time. All of the homes on the ocean side of the street here will go away over time. One would assume the homes to be not sellable right now (or at extreme discounts)
“Sir, at this price, where else can you live in a cliffside beauty like this, for the next 3-8 years, according to our expert geologist hired by the county, paid for by my client, to the best of my knowledge? I’m asking you!”
