If you are crazy about having a big ocean view, and need it like you need air to breathe, then pay whatever it takes to get what you want – it’s only money.

But logically, let’s cap the view premium at $100,000 max, to help moderate your enthusiasm – if you pay more than that, it better be a phenomenal view, and include other perks like south-facing for ample sunshine, lots of privacy, and a big flat backyard.

I’m not much for living on the coast, but even I would consider one of those houses if I could afford it. That view is a rare gem indeed.

Those rr tracks negate it a bit, but the view still comes out on top.

Train doesn’t honk there so it’s ok.

However, 5 hotels are going up right next to the property from La Costa Ave (Leucadia) to Ponto beach. Good luck!

Best lagoon in southern California for sure. No power plant monstrocity that is growing. I think this lagoon is dredged once a year paid for by some oil company as a fine for a spill somewhere unrelated to Carlsbad. Hundreds of bird species migrate by using the sand pads in the middle of the lagoon as a rest stop. I’m not even a bird buff but when you see all the species you can’t help but get sucked in to thinking that’s cool.

Only thing that bugs me is you can’t go play in that lagoon. It would be so much fun to kayak it. Carlsbad’s other lagoons don’t look so nice and hence I have no interest in kayaking them, even if it was allowed.

Would be nice if that resort site (it’s not a hotel site south of Avenida Encinas according to the Ponto Vision Plan) would be ocean view restaurants. Like we need more resorts or hotel (or timeshares). There is no where good to eat around there. I guess the Carlsbad Council could give a rat’s about having balance.

..and I’m not satisfied with one measly resort restaurant on that site that has no competition. I’m thinking that is a great place for coastal restaurant alley.

Re: The 2nd home that sold on Stearn for 2.1m. After sitting on the market in ’08 for nine months listed at 2.1-2.3M we submitted an all cash offer at 1.7M,10 day close. The owner was insulted. The killer views get the extra $$$

Are people willing to pay a view premium on twinhomes too? Did you see 2408 Sacada, Carlsbad 92009 for 499K? Gorgeous view of the golf course and lagoon.
