I grew up next door to Alvin, TX. That is NOT a beach town. Unless you consider a 30-40 minute drive to beach a “beach town.” I guess Escondido is a beach town by that criteria. Freeport, TX is in fact a beach town my siblings were born there and my dad had a beach house.

Keep in mind that parts of La Jolla are sometimes a 25 minute drive to the beach. 40 if you include parking.
