We initially used Zillow to post pictures & house info. for record keeping & to keep out of state friends current with our sfh restoration. After they dropped our house value 40% when I edited 2 words in our house description (they later deleted all reference to the higher amount they’d assessed us at for close to 2 years!), I deleted all house info. I could.
Adding to this, they refuse to share a glimpse of how they calc. value, and their pricing borders on meaningless (as I recall JTR insinuated some time ago). Further, if their listings are not inclusive, what value over Realtor.com does Zillow offer the Seller and Buyer?
Zillow was fast out of the gate, hinting great promise. But, for this (hopefully) sometime soon seller it appears it’s been quickly caught & passed by Realtor.com.
In San Diego where our MLS geniuses and Zillow still haven’t found a way to auto-upload our listings, the realtor.com listings are more accurate – because they auto-upload.
There are enough value-estimates out there now that it creates more confusion than anything.
