We have known Jim & Donna Klinge for over a dozen years, having met them in Carlsbad where our children went to the same school. As long time North County residents, it was a no- brainer for us to have the Klinges be our eyes and ears for San Diego real estate in general and North County in particular. As my military career caused our family to move all over the country and overseas to Asia, Europe and the Pacific, we trusted Jim and Donna to help keep our house in Carlsbad rented with reliable and respectful tenants for over 10 years.
Naturally, when the time came to sell our beloved Carlsbad home to pursue a rural lifestyle in retirement out of California, we could think of no better team to represent us than Jim and Donna. They immediately went to work to update our house built in 2004 to current-day standards and trends — in 2 short months they transformed it into a literal modern-day masterpiece. We trusted their judgement implicitly and followed 100% of their recommended changes. When our house finally came on the market, there was a blizzard of serious interest, we had multiple offers by the third day and it sold in just 5 days after a frenzied bidding war for 20% above our asking price! The investment we made in upgrades recommended by Jim and Donna yielded a 4-fold return, in the process setting a new high water mark for a house sold in our community.
In our view, there are no better real estate professionals in all of San Diego than Jim and Donna Klinge. Buying or selling, you must run and beg Jim and Donna Klinge to represent you! Our family will never forget Jim, Donna, and their whole team at Compass — we are forever grateful to them.
Zillow says this place sold for almost $1.5M back in 2004. Giving it back to the bank was probably a smart move.
Sold for $1.0 million in 2002, and 2.5 years later it sold for $1.44M.
By the end of 2005 he had $1.675 in loans out on it.
That place is an abortion in any market!

“Hello bank… come pick up your house.”
With all new flooring, paint, and some bathroom updates that could be a pretty nice house to me. 4100 sq ft one story is not easy to find in SD, and with a large backyard and view even more so.
I really like it. New kitchen, floors, bathrooms and get that backyard updated and you’ll be good to go!
The bones are there and (to be honest), I kinda like the eclectic 70s floor plan/look. It’s unique and a fixed up one would be very cool.
You have a large pool for laps, a decent sized yard, a great golf course location (yet private and elevated) and it’s one story!
That house has a lot of potential. If I had the money, I’d take a hard look at that one.
This makes one makes the case for “Country Living” (your new listing on Salem in Vista)by comparison. If I were in the market for a big bomber, I know which one I’d find more appealing.
And if you blow that wall out that’s in the master, you’d have a HUGE master. I’d use some of that second room to create a big bathroom and a bigger closet.
Speaking of climate, this is ideal. It’s close to the beach…but it’s just enough inland that the marine layer usually stays away. It tends to go to the I-5 or just past that & just stay there. It’ll be foggy/cloudy for days on end at my house and yet when I’m getting groceries at Albertsons on La Costa & El Camino Real?
All sun..warmer, yet not hot.
I like this house a lot. Nice sun exposure from the family room too.
Sounds like 8′ ceilings aren’t a deal breaker to everyone.
It looks like you will need to PUT up some walls and tear down some others.
If money was no object, then this would be a nice project to take on.
