That’s why I’ve either done time or lived in 7 of those cities.
“Losing” to Simi Valley is not something to be touting.
What a strange A/B type list. Other than all being close enough to the Pacific to enjoy moderated weather (ex Carson) they are all over the place for other features. One thing that is listed is local sales taxes. There are some errors but still the range is 7.25% to 9.88%. That’s clearly underrated for retirees.
And Temecula ? The heart of Southern California wine country? Wars have started over less.
Then there’s this thing called traffic. Retirees really don’t relish the idea of two 4 hour rush hours every day in places like Anaheim.
I also notice a common “where to retire” misperception. Proximity to quality health care is not that important. Ventura County residents routinely travel to Santa Barbara and Los Angeles and it is not an issue.
