Thanks for posting this Jim. In addition to a free catered lunch by the French Gourmet of North PB, all volunteers get free admission for the entire day of Sunday April 8th. That free admission is worth $75 alone.

Lots of volunteer jobs still open. I think all volunteer jobs are on Sunday April 8th. We need about 400 volunteers. The volunteer jobs are EZ and take only a few hours of your day. No BS jobs. We contract out all marketing and cleanup work. Proceeds go to the La Jolla Historical Society.

I’ll be the guy with the dingy “Price Will Fix Anything” t-shirt and the straw hat. Hope you can make it. Please fill out the application form ASAP.

Btw… the featured car this year is Lincoln. I haven’t seen the final car entrant list but I hear we have Lincolns from the teens thru the mid-60s. Most of these cars seldom see day light. They are locked up in private museums. Bring your camera.

Personally, I’ll be looking to see the new Bugatti Chiron. Base price: $3M. 1500hp. 261mph.

    1500HP!! Wow!

And yes Jim, the speed is electronically limited to 261 mph. Bugatti feels current tire technology cannot handle anything close to the 300mph which the Chiron is capable of.

I commonly see Bugatti Veyrons (the Chiron’s little $2M brother) parked on Prospect St in La Jolla. O’Gara Motors on La Jolla Blvd claims to have a Bugatti Chiron in stock and will be showing it at the Concours next weekend.

Where would you test drive a Bugatti Chiron in San Diego? I’d be heading over to nearby Miramar MCAS with Sammy Hagar’s “I can’t drive 55” playing on the inboard diamond-based sound system.

My favorite stretch is southbound I-5 right after the rest stop in Camp Pendleton. A five-mile slight-downhill track with a soft left and two gradual rights with no cops. 120MPH easy in the ‘cedes and with a Bugatti it would be two bills.

But I like the idea of nothing but miles of flat blacktop at Miramar!

Don’t forget to que up Golden Earring “Radar Love” after Sammy.

Dad had a suicide Lincoln for a bit in the 70s. By indepent suspension they meant the front half turned before the back half.

Another much more pedestrian car I’ll be looking for is the Bentley Bentayga. The Bentayga is Bentley’s version of an SUV. It is not new. A common sight on the streets of La Jolla. Bentley brought several to the show last year. What is new is a $150k option. For $150k, Bentley will custom mount a Breitling watch on the dashboard. I just have to see this watch and the $150k line-item on the window sticker.

As a side note. if you can ever wrangle an invite to the Ray Scheer collection in Westlake Village, CA never hesitate. Ray often holds soirees for charity.
