Home Inspectors That Kill Deals

Some home inspectors are notorious for having terrible bedside manner. In this case, the inspector mistakes worn-out carpet as a sloping floor, and scares the first-time buyer right out of escrow.

Sure Jim, I have faced this Issue many times but I usually control clients by explaining the Issues and how to make them fix in couple of hundred bucks … and it helps all the time as everyone knows nothing is perfect not even in the new Homes.

Jim, I’m not sure if you want me to name the inspector you hired for our recent home purchase together (I don’t want to endorse others on your blog), but…
Jim not only hires the toughest and most thorough inspector in all of town, he then took the 80 page document and made a numbered list of every single thing the inspector flagged, and sent that to me and my husband to better digest. THEN Jim’s wife and business partner runs down estimates — multiple beds no less! — to fix what you feel like needs fixing. It was a cooperative process — among me, Jim, Donna Klinge, and the sellers (since we asked them to fix a number of those things). The inspection report has since served as a mini Bible to our new home — we know what to tackle in the way of repairs, as time wears on. The inspection portion of a purchase is so important, and I was stunned at how matter of fact and helpful Jim and Donna were during this portion of the process. Jim and Donna don’t shy away from the realities that are revealed during inspection, nor do they ramp up the drama by hiring a flimsy inspector. Thanks again, guys!!!

Re: your comment, JtR. I love, love, love when you get feisty in your reply to a know-it-all who comes to your blog to tell you a thing or two. You only have 30+ years of experience in “Real Estate Land”. Keep it up! 🙂

Yeah, I wish agents would engage in healthy discussions that we can all learn from.

There is something about the internet that makes people want to 1-up the other guy, and show everyone how great they are.

When was the last time you heard Gee Wilikers?
