For those who have followed my recent real estate adventure (See recent “Boomberg” post by JtR in older entries).
I delisted on Friday. On Saturday morning, my realtor called me and said an agent had called her because she had gotten a call from her clients who were upset because of the delisting. When they noticed it, they immediately called her wanting to see it again.
I was hesitant to do the showing. It’s exhausting to get ready for a showing–especially when weekend temps were 107 and 111 (No, I don’ live in Las Vegas). But miracles do happen, so I said yes when my realtor told me they had already seen the photos and had seen the house in-person a couple weeks ago. Their agent also hyped up their excitement level talking to my realtor.
They were at the showing on Sunday afternoon for all of 11 minutes. (My personal scale is it’s a successful showing if the prospective buyers stay at least 15 minutes.)
I knew a miraculous offer was not forthcoming for that reason. And this morning, by email, it was confirmed:
The buyers decided the house was too big for them. It was #1, but not anymore…
*Sigh* For the record, my home is all of 2,150 square feet. Now I’m jumping up and down with joy at the prospect of other agents leaving countless phone messages and tell me they want to try to sell it…
And the craziness begins!
No sooner did I get off my computer and to go outside to save my flowers from certain death (103 today after weekends’ 107 and 111), then I find a typed letter from a local realtor and broker from the #1 local real estate company at my door.
Silly me, when I saw the personal letter addressed to me personally, I thought it was a plea from a prospective buyer who had already seen my home, noticed it was delisted on Friday, but really wanted to buy my home. That miracle evaporated when I read the first two sentences.
“Dear ‘Susie’
I was looking through the MLS and saw your Cancelled listing on…” “We would be happy to provide you with a second opinion on where we see your home selling.”
Six paragraphs follow. At least the guy kept it to one page 🙂
I love those letters that bash the previous realtor too, and complete the full sleaze effect.
Susie, am I misremembering, or did you, at some point, say you were in the Bend Oregon area?
