There are around 1,500 videos here that followed the market down.  It was quite a ride for all of us, including fans from the FHFA to Jim Grant.

But when the market started to turn, the blog had to change with it.

It has not been easy.  I’ve wanted to entertain the long-time readers by exposing more of the constant insanity and shenanigans, mostly to demonstrate the potential pitfalls.

But it can come off as negative and bitter, and though this business is full of both, I’d rather present a friendlier package.

My goal has been to provide relevant information that causes people to say – ‘Hey, Jim could help me buy or sell a house, I’m going to call him’.

I’m not sure this video represents – but hang around a while longer to see if I can pull it off:

    Jim,

Good market/bad market. You know real estate.

Go with your gut. Call ’em as you see ’em. That’s what got you to where you are.

The craziness in the housing market hasn’t gone away because the factors that created the craziness haven’t been dealt with (i.e. funny money, funny banks, funny rules, lax/no oversight, etc.)

A great realtor like yourself has probably been pulled 10 different ways over the last 10 to 15 years. We’re still in crazy times.

So stay true to yourself and your clients.

That’s the “Jim The Realtor” we’ve all come to know.

    Have a good one.

Informative with some swag! thanks Jim. I have been following you since the bubble and your sharing of our local market is spot on, witty and even comical.

Real estate markets change just like life. What doesn’t change is how you always put your clients’ best interests first, Jim. Heck, I moved out-of-state (left CA), wasn’t even a client but you helped me w/ advice and even did a voice-over of my new house by long-distance video.

I appreciate the thoughts – thanks for your support!

I’d like the blog to be economically viable too, and the videos could be more effective in that regard.

Negative and bitter? I took it as reality. My complaint was the complete lack of ice cream truck coverage this past year. Keep going.

If there were more realtors who talked like I do in public, the message here would be easier to take.

But because society is trained to expect little if anything from realtors, many who come here don’t take the time to figure it out. They just think I’m some grumpy old guy and keep moving.

I can’t alienate the masses to keep my little audience laughing. I need to broaden the appeal, and retain clients from what they see here.

Kayla should help a lot – and coming soon!

    Jim,

    Makes sense.

You know your business better than the rest of us.

    Jim,

Your honesty and candor IS your brand as a real estate professional. It doesn’t hurt that you also have a great sense of humor.

Please keep doing what you do best.

Thank you for the many years of real estate information in a very entertaining format.

Thank you – and we will carry on!

Kayla will be the deputy in charge of humor from now on.
