What to make of the recent JtR videos?
1. Inventory is so thin I am having trouble finding houses to capture.
2. Alomost every single video here has something to do with my on-going business – you can figure that JtR probably has something cooking nearby every house seen here.
3. After the survey, I’m trying to be both a tad more positive, and video a little lower down the price scale. I don’t think anyone would consider buying this particular house, but it gives you a perspective of what this money will buy around the La Jolla/PB/UTC corridor:
“Tall flipper”! Ha! Good observation Jim. You weren’t a fan of Ellory Queen books about 40 years ago were you? 🙂
just about everything in there I recognize from home depot
the flippers are so predictable these days, they all expect to make $100,000 on every deal:

Ellory Queen? No, I was brought up on Hardy Boys and Rockford Files, plus a few spagetti westerns!
Worse than an electric stove is electric heat. At least you can replace the stove with induction. Not sure about this one but a bunch of the places in UTC and that part of La Jolla have no natural gas (heating a house built with no energy standards and $.30/kwh electricity is not cheap). While at UCSD I went a few years with no heat at all.
“plus a few spagetti westerns!”
OK, now you’ve got me jonzing for a “the good, the bad & the ugly” themed video.
flippers are good for the market.
Parking is a big problem there, as Jim mentioned. The street is little more than a driveway because it’s so narrow. On trash day, watch it turn into an obstacle course.
I-5 is less than 100 yds. away. Easy access.
Looks like the flipper wants $94K on this one. Spray wood stain? Seriously?
Does this price work to buy it and simply rent to UCSD students?
Rent it out for the next 10 years before my son (or 14 for my daughter) goes there for school. . .
