SDSU assistant Chris Acker just made us aware on @JonAndJim that over 50 former Aztecs that played for Steve Fisher and Brian Dutcher will be at the Final Four on Saturday. What an incredible bond.
Because few people service a mortgage for all 30 years (they get divorced, refinance, move or die), mortgage rates are compared to the 10-Year Treasury Note.
While Treasury yields have fallen, mortgage rates are stuck in the mid-6% area.
Huge spread vs. 10-year = 304bps.

Hey, isn’t this that really “quaint” house up in Leucadia?
Our neighbors just had the poison bouncy-castle treatment on their home, to be followed up by orange oil treatments around the foundation (I think).
…And we have some tell-tale signs in our house as well. *sigh*
All homes have termites from the moment they are framed. It’s really not a big deal, controlling leaks is the biggest issue. Termites thrive where the wood is wet.
Every decade or two you need to tent your house. You can also use heat treatment instead of poisons.
Yes Peter, it’s the Leucadia house. I need to get an “after” version on video, it looks terrific now!
I was an inspector for about ten years total. I ended up working for a shop out of Lancaster using silica dust to treat drywood termites. I still believe this method to have real merit… Drywoods are easy to kill if you take their moisture from them.
Where I live now we only have subterranean and Im not interested in ever crawling a house again.
But the comments of Mozart are really incorrect. It really depends on the location and how vigilant you have been. And even then …
Venice near L.A. is heavily infested while some areas around Whittier are barely touched. Drywoods don’t live in soaked wood. They avoid it. Im not familiar with heat treatments but some attics Ive been in measured 130 degrees… And the little guys thrived. The only way to know is to have your house inspected by a reputable company.
What’s a reputable company? I’m always so skeptical of termite inspectors – even more so than auto mechanics!
