I say you left coasters have way too much time on your hands. I live in the shark bite capital of the world (Daytona/New Smyrna Beach) and our surfers have had more close up enounters & resulting wounds (assuming they made it out alive) with sharks than they wished for. Have fun along the journey!!!!!!!!

Jaboney,
If you want to surf with sharks in Ca just head north. Anything above Santa Cruz and you pretty much have to accept that being in the wrong place at the wrong time simply won’t end well. But if you’re a bigger guy like myself 190+ that’s where you have to go for consistently bigger waves.
Here’s a fun story. One winter I had a fever and wasn’t feeling very well so I grabbed my longboard and paddled out without a wetsuit at scripts. I was sitting outside the lineup picking up bigger waves as the came in. When I saw the dark outline of what looked like a volkswagon bus under the water cutting between me and everyone closer to shore in the lineup. When you realize the tail is going side to side instead of up and down it quickly became a crap your pants moment with me paddling in faster than I’ve ever paddled before.

Sharks are very sensitive to electricity and I’ve heard some products that you wear on your ankle while surfing to ward sharks off.
Unfortunately they are expensive at this time, but seems like an awfully nice Christmas present for your surfer friend this year.
Thaylor, anything you wear that generates an electrical field will most likely ATTRACT them, not repel them. I don’t know what products you’re talking about, but I don’t think they can possibly be electrical field suppressors.
