We have known Jim & Donna Klinge for over a dozen years, having met them in Carlsbad where our children went to the same school. As long time North County residents, it was a no- brainer for us to have the Klinges be our eyes and ears for San Diego real estate in general and North County in particular. As my military career caused our family to move all over the country and overseas to Asia, Europe and the Pacific, we trusted Jim and Donna to help keep our house in Carlsbad rented with reliable and respectful tenants for over 10 years.
Naturally, when the time came to sell our beloved Carlsbad home to pursue a rural lifestyle in retirement out of California, we could think of no better team to represent us than Jim and Donna. They immediately went to work to update our house built in 2004 to current-day standards and trends — in 2 short months they transformed it into a literal modern-day masterpiece. We trusted their judgement implicitly and followed 100% of their recommended changes. When our house finally came on the market, there was a blizzard of serious interest, we had multiple offers by the third day and it sold in just 5 days after a frenzied bidding war for 20% above our asking price! The investment we made in upgrades recommended by Jim and Donna yielded a 4-fold return, in the process setting a new high water mark for a house sold in our community.
In our view, there are no better real estate professionals in all of San Diego than Jim and Donna Klinge. Buying or selling, you must run and beg Jim and Donna Klinge to represent you! Our family will never forget Jim, Donna, and their whole team at Compass — we are forever grateful to them.
Quepos is one of my favorite places. I have spent some time there, it is VERY magical. No surf, but great fishing and, of course, Manuel Antonio park!!! I love that sytle of Modern. Their use of glass to bond the house with nature is fantastic! I can hear the howler monkeys just by looking!
Wow, just wow… the use of so much glass is just stunning!
Original poster boy for sunscreen Angelo Mozilo to pay 67.5M to settle Countrywide charges. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

Thanks Jim. Awesome place in an awesome setting. I wonder if the architect brought in his own builder since the locals probably don’t have much experience working with some of those materials.
Also so cool to have the ability to design elements such as floating/cantilevered stairs without building code-related constraints….
Hey RTT…
Check out this line from the story:
“but Bank of America will pick up two-thirds of the bill.”
Re: Mozilo. “… Regulators also contend Mozilo made nearly $140 million by dumping Countrywide stock before the truth emerged.”
Simple arithmetic here: $140 million -$22.5 million civil penalty paid by Mozillo but Bank of America will pay $45 million in disgorgement.
What do you know? The “Tan Man” made about $122 million! Crime pays! I’m absolutely sick …
Wow, just wow…
Susie said it all! 🙂
Great place, but i just love the hypocrisy of wealthy tree huggers. did this green trend setter take the G650 to their environmentally-friendly home or just the Cessna?…i’m sure they took the Prius from the airport though.
i didn’t cut a tree down therefore i’m committed to the environment.
what a farce.
let me build my compound in the middle of nowhere, and then write me up and tell me how green I am because, although I used more materials to build the home(those come from the Earth by the way) than most people will use for two homes, I am green because I didn’t chop down a tree in the exact spot i put the palace to my ego.
in the spirit of Angelina Jolie, i’m sure this person only uses one square to wipe their butt, right before they use 500 gallons of water to take a shower.
i’m all for building a nice house, but just shut the hell up and don’t tell me you respect the environment.

Or create a documentary detailing how our carbon emissions are going to kill us all…and film it in the comfort of your private jet with huge jet engines whirring in the background… (Inconvenient Truth)
