Thanks, Jim! Those were the days.

What a moment!!! I recall the following year as well, 1977, I was 11 and my dad took me to two of the World series home games–Dodgers VS Yankees–I remember it like yesterday–and then 1978–The All-Star game at Jack Murphy Stadium!!!
Thanks for posting this Jim–brings a tear to my eye!

That was really cool, thanks for sharing.

That’s awesome that you got to see the world series LB. Next time the Dodgers are in I’m definitely taking a trip up to LA.

No Tazers in those days… too bad.

That was great! I’d never heard of this before, even me being a Cub fan.

Thanks for posting this! I didn’t know the story, nor did my husband. He was touched enough to pass the link on to his Mom. Happy 4th!!

I never heard of this before. Sure struck me as a major “WTF” moment. What was the plan, go to the stadium, get a hot dog, maybe a couple beers, try to catch some fly balls, and I dunno, run on the field and burn a flag? What’s up with that?

Every time I see some uber patriot displaying a flag improperly along my neighborhood streets in Phoenix, Arizona, (especially weathered and worn ones) I feel like burning them. However, I don’t have enough time to burn all of those flags. Buy the way, what are you suppose to do with a flag that touches the ground? Burn it, right?

Loved it; thanks for posting Jim.
