GMAFB. This is epitome of man over nature. Nothing wrong but to claim otherwise is beyond hubris.

You don’t “live” here, you entertain here. That’s fine but don’t call this a home.

Know the price tag, JtR? Looks like a lot of square footage…

The first time I was in one of these suckers, I couldn’t figure out the logic to it. They had a pool in the main room! They had a wood floor that slid over it. The ceiling of the main room was three stories high. The owners only stayed there 4 months out of the year. The rest of the time it was empty. It had a guest house the size of most people’s homes, and nicer than most people’s homes–it had it’s own home theater.
I finally figured it was just a place to impress and house their relatives and friends–mostly when they weren’t even their to entertain them–and that was it. I wasn’t vulgar enough to figure it out at first.
The property tax and upkeep bill for the house was insane, just so they could play top dog in their social circle. That money could be going towards supporting children’s hospitals, or almost anything but that!
Hard to wrap your head around that, but a lot of people are doing it.
When I was on the east coast, the old school mansions I saw might have been huge, but you could tell it was a residence. Somebody lived there, and cared about living there. These inbred chopshop Hilton’s are just… obnoxious to me. It’s like presiding over a trailer park, minus the respectability.
