What happens to the days of the double wide for 50 grand?
finding a place to build can also be a challenge. usually you are pretty much stuck in remote areas cause all the hoa’s dont want you around.
Have to second avgjoe — 200psf does seem a bit much for a manufactured home.

there’s new homes right here in SD for sale just north of $200/sqft.
they’re not going to be able to compete at $200/sqft on just the construction, land extra.
psf is entirely dependant upon finishes.
mfg homes in some locations; i.e. Joshua tree may actually be cheaper….gets you into remote locations easier than old school.
also, there may be inherant aspects of mfg homes that decrease upkeep costs.
If they go up quickly, they can reduce the cost of capital. i.e. interest on the construction loan.
Other than that, 200 psf seems expensive to me, also.
