From curbed.com:

After two and a half months, this 1927 Paul Williams house out in the wilds of La Cañada Flintridge has emerged from its interior design cocoon, having been made over top to bottom by a group of more than 50 designers. “Before” photos and a little history here. The private property is this year’s Pasadena Showcase House of Design, a music and arts education fundraiser that’s been held since 1965. Today we’re checking out the main house, which is 7,205 square feet and has four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a carriage house.

Tours started this past weekend and will run through May 15.

Absolutely brilliant. Gorgeous home. This is what I expect my few million to buy and not some newly built cookie cutter crap box that passes for “luxury” in CA suburbs. Notice how the kitchen has enough modern amenities to bring it into this century, yet those features are so subtle they blend in with the rest of house.

How bizarre is the location of the plasma TV in the loft/garage?

    Just Guy,
I think the TV is well-located for a “working garage” like that. Visible from almost anywhere.
Also, just my opinion, but if you want this level of quality, I suggest to either design/build from scratch or remodel yourself. No way will you find a spec-built home at this level of quality.

The designer responsible for the mid-century satellite fixture in the living room should be forced to hang a velvet Elvis painting in their bedroom. Bad designer…bad designer.

  4. LM

Yes i sort of get the impresssion that “several” designers were involved. 3-4 designers woulda been better

  5. Bluezette

Yes, Peter! The light fixture, the sofas, the pillows, the coffee table…wrong for this house. The bathroom is perfection, though. I see so many real estate listings that say “Needs updating”. Translation: tear out all the beautiful original details and put in modern, low quality, high priced junk that will scream 2010s in a few years.
