I have no idea why a homeowner would leave until he is forced to.Most people stay until the are faced with legal eviction or a sheriff shows up at the door.

robosigner – one might speculate that the owners have possibly decamped to another house, one that they think they can save or purchased with money they cashed out of the first one. They’ve abandoned and moved on, rather than stayed and fought. That suggests to me that they were just speculating in the first place.

“…are you squatting in this house?”

    “yeah, me and your mom.”

You have to admit some of these people have some real kajonas.I wonder why they are never prosecuted? Is the DA too busy to deal with these people?

Personal opinion – I think they sometimes HAVE to prosecute to make an example out of someone. Every once in while a case will make news. Beyond that I think too busy AND a bit of sympathy for fellow citizens who are seeing dreams die, losing their homes while bankers reap bonuses and suffered no ill consequences for their misdeeds.

That doesn’t make the amount of fraud, speculation and just plain stupid/greedy behavior on the part of bubble buyers and less — it just rubs the wrong way that both parties didn’t get the same punishment. Only one side got punished and that stews in most people’s stomachs and makes them a little less harsh on the Average Joe who was maybe a little greedy and got caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

The whole thing has been just so grossly unfair and everyone knows it.

Couldn’t they be arrested for trespassing and at least have to spend the night at the gray bar hotel? After enough nights in jail they might get discouraged..I know, the jails are over-crowded now??
