The #1 low pass shows the halo of water around the plane. It happened during a Blue Angel’s event over San Francisco several years ago. It was the pilot’s last show with the team and he had nothing to lose. Many of the boats in the bay lost windows to the sonic blast:

I’ve anchored in the SF Bay for the Blue Angel’s a number of times. It’s amazing.
I experienced one of these sitting on a beach at the Colorado river somewhere north of Yuma.
I could see how it would piss someone off – it is quite invasive. Incredibly loud, it shakes your body, hurts your ears and is running away from you before you even know what is happening.
Then you realize “Dude – that was just like Top Gun !” I thought it was pretty cool. The films are nice, but nothing like being there.
