What would you call this style, Modern Hawaiian Plantation?
There are two bedrooms and two baths and a big garage downstairs that will be on a future reel – trying to keep these videos shorter!

I like the house but all the lighting seemed very direct, felt like you were passing from one spotlight to another.
I didn’t know you could put outlets so close to the kitchen sink, GFCI or not…
It’s a beautiful home, and yes, it does remind me of some homes in Hawaii. What would you price it at, JtR?
I love those cantina doors. Mr Prof wonders if they leak.
What bothers me about this place at first glance, is that it is built in the bottom of a pretty steep incline on all sides with a driveway that reminds one of the parking structures you see in downtown San Diego. I imagine there must be a pretty extensive storm drainage system with pumps, but one wonders where all the runnoff goes. Definitely a first impression issue for buyers.
I like the overall look, maybe not the layout of the greatroom, but it’s nice.
I think the floors might just have a matte finish on them, and the tile is very cool, just maybe not the carpet with inset tile. I also think the Jack/Jill Laundry is a totally cool idea. Very useful.
I think the folding doors are the way of the future for high-end homes. Although, the 2 big manufacturers (LaCantina and NanaWall) are both very expensive and exclusive, so if you have to ask how much it costs… you can’t afford it. And, if you hear a price… that’s the starting price without the bells and whistles. I’d guess those 2 doors probably cost about $50-60K, possibly not even installation since the walls have to be engineered for them.
However for $2Million, aren’t there better houses out there?

I like the look of the house. Nice to see something different from the standard Mediterranean McMansion.
I don’t get two things.
What’s with the under counter microwave. How is that more useful than above the counter?
Do people really cook that much pasta that they need the pot filler above the stove top? It seems to take away from the look of the back splash.
Thoughts?
Holding out for full price
Well, you didn’t expect to just “give it away” did you? 😉
Cool place, but yeah, maybe not $2M cool.
Hey David,
Good point. I’ve never seen a pot-filler actually being used. Ever.
Also, that under-counter micro thing is getting old. Completely unacceptable when it could’ve been in-designed at waist-height.
House is “down in the hollow”.
Road noise is a final deal-breaker.
Leucadia is still full of too many hippies wealthy from having squatted there back in the 70’s. For 2MM, give me some separation and no road noise.
I guess if I dropped some peyote the I-5 would sound like a mountain stream. Loud, monster stream. Purple stream. Groovy stream.
I agree that this is a very nice house, with good design. My only question is, “Where’s the 2 million dollar view?”
$50-60k for cantina doors? What’s the return on that investment…10%?
