I guess the principal of San Marcos High School can say they rocked the county – SMHS had the biggest YOY gain in the 2011 API test scores of the local high schools:

Congratulations to every school improving over last year!
Teachers and staff at SM were really happy with this result. When you look at the income and demographics of the areas with comparable schools, it shows what a great job they are doing.
One of the senior staff from SMHS is now running Carlsbad, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see improvement there in the next 2 years.
