Going up into Mission Hills on Washington St., the median had several of these put in (around late 90’s or early 00’s). The cost at that time was said to be 10K a pop. They make for a magical approach as you ascend into Mission Hills. The fronds where tied back in a net like sack to protect the tree. Doing so was suppose to reduce the strain on the tree as it is moved and once it has established itself in its new home.

We have a bigger one in our front yard. It is HUGE. Cesars Palace in Las Vegas wanted to buy it and then a Charger….but my Dad declined. It really makes the yard a special place.

It’s been “brand new” for a couple years….haha. Interesting house though with the upstairs guest house and everything. Unique for Leucadia, that’s for sure.
They run about $300-$400 per foot of trunk height. Of course, games get played when measuring that height…
I can confirm the prices that Jim showed on the video. I had 3 big boys put in 3 months ago: A 14 ton 22 footer, and two 10 ton 16 footers. The identical pair of 16 footers had to be lifted over the house to get to the back yard. If you buy directly from the guys that search for private sellers like in this video you can get a supurb deal.

My neighbor sold his canary island palm for 5k in the heyday, half that size.
There’s a guy in Poway who covered his entire hillside with 100 or so of these palms. Still small now, but may be worth hundreds of thousands in a couple decades if the market doesn’t collapse for these trees. I don’t think they need much water once established.
