The Good The Klinge Realty Group operates like a finely tuned machine, with a very personal touch. We contacted them on a Sunday and they were talking to us about our family and our needs on our living room couch the following day. They carefully listened to us and worked with us to identify the best and quickest path to listing within 2 weeks to take advantage of the low inventory conditions in our South Carlsbad neighborhood. He was in constant communication explaining potential buyer reaction and strength. As he predicted offers began to come in on Saturday and each one was incrementally higher than the last. At the end we had 5 offers, 4 of which were over list, and the final accepted offer was $100,000 over list. In addition to being over list it included rent back terms that met our needs. $100k for on the beach is insane. I think my folks paid $120 for a house in Carlsbad in 1984… a mile from the beach.

6k in 1984 is alot beer money at 25 years old Jim, or about 6 blocks from this condo was “Diego’s”. $1.00 margarita Mondays and MNF with the Charger girls and players, Dandy Don Meredith and Howard Kosell blasting over the speaker system.
I partied down one night with a High School friend of mine who managed 91x at the time with “Little Train” James and Vincy Glenn. I was the marketing guy for bolle sunglasses then and got those 2 and the Chargers girls all decked out in neon yellow framed bolles with mirrored blue lenses.
Remember everyone wearing neon pink, yellow, green and roange stuff on the beaches and in public view in the mid/late eighties!
Don’t forget the 50/50 split with the broker, and taxes, but yes, it was a lot of Diego Dollars!

Jim, thanks. I also loved the comments about Diego’s. Lived in PB from 1979 to 1987. We had enough money to buy, but not in PB. Plus, I was pregnant. Bought out here in La Mesa, and now — I’ll never move! PB is NOT for middle-aged people and/or parents of young kids. I feel sorry for the few elderly people still in PB, although they prolly have a mountain of equity.
Looks like a 1 bd room condos in the complex or the ones next to it (ocean side) are listed for $350-450,000.
