We have known Jim & Donna Klinge for over a dozen years, having met them in Carlsbad where our children went to the same school. As long time North County residents, it was a no- brainer for us to have the Klinges be our eyes and ears for San Diego real estate in general and North County in particular. As my military career caused our family to move all over the country and overseas to Asia, Europe and the Pacific, we trusted Jim and Donna to help keep our house in Carlsbad rented with reliable and respectful tenants for over 10 years.
Naturally, when the time came to sell our beloved Carlsbad home to pursue a rural lifestyle in retirement out of California, we could think of no better team to represent us than Jim and Donna. They immediately went to work to update our house built in 2004 to current-day standards and trends — in 2 short months they transformed it into a literal modern-day masterpiece. We trusted their judgement implicitly and followed 100% of their recommended changes. When our house finally came on the market, there was a blizzard of serious interest, we had multiple offers by the third day and it sold in just 5 days after a frenzied bidding war for 20% above our asking price! The investment we made in upgrades recommended by Jim and Donna yielded a 4-fold return, in the process setting a new high water mark for a house sold in our community.
In our view, there are no better real estate professionals in all of San Diego than Jim and Donna Klinge. Buying or selling, you must run and beg Jim and Donna Klinge to represent you! Our family will never forget Jim, Donna, and their whole team at Compass — we are forever grateful to them.
Don’t ask how, but I saw that house just before it was completed. It is a show stopper! Absolutely immaculate. I love the lower level too….the lot I guess could be a little bigger (nice to have a lawn), but that’s my only complaint. The workmanship is flawless….me and my friend were amazed. And we went through some big, spectacular estates in RSF & La Jolla. It’s a special, one-of-a-kind home, that’s for sure.
That one on Luneta sold for $5,000,000 a while ago, you had it in one of your videos.
I would rather have Marti’s pad! One of my favorite homes in Del Mar….#1 being the one at the end of Serpentine Dr….modern home, 270 degree view: ocean, track, RSF…that’s a view! Got its own cul-de-sac and everything…underground passage ways going this way and that way…and the view? Probably my favorite in all of San Diego.
I don’t know why, but that Luneta property has really gotten under my skin. You covered that property before. Yes, it looks nice. Yes, it’s muchly improved over the last time you looked at it. Even so, at $5 million, it was a joke. At $6 million, it’s an outright scam. At the time, I actually looked at the complete photo preview of the place and the ridiculously small plot it sat on, and saw nothing — not even a Kool-Aid dispenser — to justify that pricing.
Allow me once more to show you what $1000/sq.ft. should look like. In my armchair opinion, there is absolutely no aspect of the Luneta property that compares favorably with the Mill Valley property.
“Well, someone will pay that price.” Yes, I’m sure someone will. They’re an idiot.
IMHO, of course. (grr, I say, grr…)
Or better yet, why not go on over to the Ranch? 5-6 million these days buys you a lavish house on a nice sized lot….tennis, pool, everything. Check out the 5.5 mil house on Lago Lindo…it’s a great Spanish colonial.
Many sellers of recent listings definitely incorporate a seasonal premium into the pricing, at 3-5% I’d say. Spring optimism is at play. Many uninformed buyers will buy into that.
This went on the market and closed escrow 10 days later.
