I had no idea, haven’t been thru Olde Carlsbad in awhile. Last time it was a summertime Saturday with traffic locked up all the way from the powerplant, because I5 north was also crawling.
Saw the big hotel going up north of Leucadia, at the west end of La Costa Avenue, tucked into the hillside with a dead and vacant restaurant overlooking it. Surprised to see it was once owned by KSL, proposed to be the beach annex of the La Costa Resort, before they sold out to JMI, who’s now building it. Over 30 years in the making.
I don’t know if upscale is the best descriptor. Tasteless, bland, one-size-fits all architecture seems more apropo. Literally every development has the concrete – stained wood – cool grey scheme.
I was going to use that but it wouldn’t fit on the line! 🙂
Ugly. Ugly. Ugly. May the city council members who sold out burn for it.
