With my content further diminished by the drone crash, I’ll be finding my way to new topics. Hang in there!

Man……I wish I still had my 1972 Kharmann Ghia….
There was one beetle flying a Mexican flag. The last beetle ever made was in Mexico back in early 2000s. They are (we’re?) used as taxi cabs.

Oh the childhood memories…my dad’s choice of transportation during my 18 years at home: 1960 microbus (red/white), 1962 microbus (red/white), 1971 or ’73 microbus (orange/white), 1968 bug (bluish-grey). Seatbelts? Didn’t need ’em; free to roam the entire cabin in transit. A/C? During the winter. Heat? During the summer. Windshield wipers that actually cleared the panel windows? Let’s just hope you had raccoon vision. Horsepower? You don’t need no stinkin’ horsepower traveling down hill. And don’t forget all the great leg room to be had with the front bench seats, but don’t worry about head-on collisions – you have that stellar metal bumper up front and at least 3mm of the finest West German sheet metal to soften the impact as you stomp the brake pedal through the rusted floorpan.
The topper was my mom’s 1962 2-door Ford Falcon in cream on cream and my 4’11” grandmother driving a 1969 microbus (stick shift, of course).
Good times.

I still own my 1964 split window kombi, 700 000 kms 5 engines 2 gearboxes and still going. Like property a good investment………..now worth more than a 1964 Rolls Royce silver shadow. Only male car I have ever owned, only had to be towed home once (by a 1960 land rover). Has towed both a Lamborghini Countach as well as a Maserati 3500 GTI Sebring!
