Five or six months ago my wife and I followed open house signs in Carmel Valley out of our league into Rancho Santa Fe and to this house. It was listed at $10 million.

It’s a beauty. VERY high quality construction and great flow. My wife agreed it was beautiful, but she thought maybe it didn’t quite feel like “home.”

I think the RSF one is really nice – I love LOOKING at these modern houses but I’m not sure I’d want to live in it. Needs a good “ass-factor” couch to flop/pass out on.. I just can’t see having the crew over to watch the Super Bowl..

That Seabright Lane one though.. WOW! Me likey.

Now **that’s** what a million-dollar house is supposed to look like!

Seriously, the notion that tract homes on small lots are “million-dollar” homes is one of the most peculiar things about the bubble. Million-dollar+ homes have almost always been nice, custom homes on decent lots with no HOAs/Mello-Roos — even here in sunny, coastal California.

I like this house. It wouldn’t work for my wife because of all the level changes and steps, but otherwise this is the sort of place we’d be looking at if cost were no object.

We’ve had Seabright Lane bookmarked ever since it was first listed…in case our ship suddenly comes in.

Seriously, what a great house. I love modern houses, and out here in the East we have a real shortage. Colonials and Cape Cods and the occasional Vicotrian, yes, but contemporary, not so much.

BEAUTIFUL HOME–Outside is an absolute 10–great mix of warm and cold modern. I loved most of the interior as well, except the kitchen (glass countertops???)and the triangular lines of the open-beam ceilings/staircase–Interior gets a solid 9.
