Property Tax Reductions

For those who want to apply for a ‘temporary’ reduction in your property taxes, you have until this Friday, May 30, to get your application to the assessor’s office.  If you need recent sales to substantiate your case, let me know!

The application:

Email me for assistance – I can submit the kit for you, if you’d like:

  1. That’s a very kind offer. Hopefully your efforts can be copied and we can drive out the shady, "lower your taxes for a fee" crowd. At the same time it would be a good idea to check if any homeowners exemptions and expiring fee schedules are correct. Mello-Roos/special assessment districts do expire.

Please keep us up to date on the flood of applications and any reportable results.

  2. I have a question. Do you consider a corner lot more or less desirable? I think less desirable cause although the lot is bigger it is typically unusable space in front and on the side of the house. I appreciate your thougths.

  3. I have a form completed for each of my properties but have a strategy question for anyone who has ever been through this process. Does the assessor typically negotiate the final number no matter what you submit? ie…is it better to give a really low, aggressive opinion of market value knowing that the assessor will counter with a higher value? Or if you give a less aggressive value can you get rubber stamped?

  4. Not sure about how the assessor will be handling these – he probably isn’t either!

  5. Good for you Jim!
