Buying real estate is not going out of fashion – people dig real estate and want to be in the game.  Thankfully there is more to it than boosting your ego.  Homes provide security, literally and figuratively.  On the literal side, people are building bigger and better homes to protect themselves from the elements: terrorists, hurricanes, gangsters, etc.  They are filling them with modern conveniences  so they never have to leave.  The internet, plus gas prices at $3 per gallon, are pushing more and more people to work out of the house. 

Figuratively-speaking,  people who own their house have planted their stake in the ground.  They can cope with the uncertainties of life a lot better if they known there is the one constant – at least I have my own place.  There will be fewer people buying investment properties because the rents don’t justify it, but there will be plenty of demand for homes purchased to live in – many to last a lifetime! 

If the market holds up, then this will be why – people who don’t own homes here will want to own bad enough that they’ll buy a house that fits their needs exactly and is bought at a good price.
